Black henna for hair

Black henna for hair

Each woman, choosing a hair dye, thinks that she does not harm the hair. The chemical components which are a part of the majority of paints, can become the reason of an exhaustion of hair, their loss, emergence of dandruff and allergic reactions. Especially often this happens with prolonged use of the same type of paint. Therefore, many women prefer henna (or henne) - a natural remedy, known since time immemorial.

Features

Shading black henna has its distinct advantages that make it competitive with the most modern professional chemical dyes.

  • it is absolutely ecological and hypoallergenic;
  • has a low cost;
  • has no restrictions on age, is suitable for use during pregnancy and a lactation;
  • strengthens and restores hair, gives them strength, shine and volume;
  • heals and soothes the scalp, providing antimicrobial and anti-fungal effects.

With all its virtues, black henna has its drawbacks:

  • does not differ in high firmness, color is gradually washed away when you wash a head;
  • does not paint over gray hair (the color of gray hair becomes greenish);
  • badly washed off the scalp, face and hands;
  • it can not be used after perm, as the curls from this finish;
  • when using henna after another chemical dye, the hair may turn green;
  • it is very difficult to repaint hair after henna with chemical dyes, since it forms a kind of “protective layer” on the hair;
  • with prolonged frequent use of henna can begin to "dry" the hair due to the tannins it contains, so it should be used no more than once a month.

Is henna black?

Few women who use henna know that there is a black variety. This dye is obtained by mixing the powder from the leaves of an Indian plant of the indigosphere (better known as Basma) and the powder of classical red henna.

How to get black hair color with henna dyeing?

Black henna dyes hair a deep black color with a noble blue shimmer. But in combination with henna red, the color can vary to a light chestnut color, depending on the selected proportion and initial condition of the hair, that is, the more red henna is in, the brighter the shade is. Therefore, to achieve the exact desired result is possible only experimentally.

At the same time, if you decide to dye your hair just with basma, it should be remembered that in its pure form it only gives a dark blue-green tint, so it is advisable to add henna to it.

How to paint?

Black henna is great for dyeing hair at home. For painting you will need a wide brush, a plastic cap and a warm towel. Before use, it is recommended to dissolve a little powder in hot water (at least 90 degrees) and paint one strand, wait 15-20 minutes and check the result. If you are satisfied with the color, then you can begin to paint.

For medium length hair, 2-3 sachets are required. Pour the powder into a glass or ceramic dish, pour hot water and mix thoroughly. The resulting mixture, until it is cold, brush over the entire length of the hair, starting from the roots, put on a hat and wrap the head with a towel. For deep staining you need to wait at least 3 hours, but for the first time it is better to wash off the paint in 30-40 minutes.Rinse henna should be warm water without using a shampoo, so you should wash your head before dyeing.

How much is holding up?

The time that the color lasts depends largely on the manufacturer of the powder and the type of hair. As a rule, paint on wavy hair lasts no more than 1.5-2 months. By nature, dark hair can lose its shade after 30 days, but light and red, with proper care, sometimes retain a rich color for 3 months.

Alternative uses

In addition to use as a hair dye, black henna is used to create mehendi - painting on the hands and on the body in Indian style, especially popular recently in young girls. To do this, the paint is not produced in powder, but in tubes, creamy consistency.

Colorless henna can be used as a nourishing mask, which well helps from black spots, cleanses and regenerates the skin, soothes, relieves inflammation, whitens, has antifungal and antibacterial effect.

Which henna is better - black or brown?

Black and brown variations are great for applying henna tattoos, it all depends on the pattern and individual preferences. However, brown henna is considered “more natural”, since PPD is often added to black henna, which gives it a more lasting color, but is a strong allergen.

Composition

By itself, henna is a completely natural product, obtained from a lonsonia plant is not a prickly (mainly from leaves), but other components are often added to it to create different shades. When choosing henna should pay attention to the composition indicated on the package. Often, manufacturers add paraphylenediamine (PPD) to it - a cheap synthetic product that gives the paint greater durability, but is a strong skin allergen. Therefore, the content of PPD in the paint intended to create Mihendi or dye eyelashes and eyebrows is unacceptable, and in the hair dye should not exceed 6%.
