Ossetian costume is justifiably considered one of the brightest and most distinctive national dresses.

Currently, Ossetians wear national clothes only in special cases, for large celebrations and festivals. In the villages, this custom is more common and revered. However, city dwellers also honor the memory of their ancestors, not forgetting the traditions and culture of their people, one of the elements of which is the national, traditional Ossetian costume.

From the earliest times, it has become a tradition that the traditional Ossetian costume should be made with the female hands, and at home. Homespun cloth women initially painted in the desired colors and shades. This was done using paints exclusively of plant origin.
