Banding technique shugaring
Smooth delicate skin and the absence of unwanted hairs are what every woman aspires to. And the beauty industry is not tired to please us with new and modern ways of getting rid of them. But there are procedures proven by time, those who have been trusted by beauties of the whole world from time immemorial. One of these procedures is hair removal with the help of sugar paste.
What it is?
First, let's separate the concepts of "hair removal" and "depilation." Epilation is the removal of hairs with a bulb, depilation is a struggle only with the visible part of the hair shaft. It is possible to refer manipulations by means of the laser, wax, sugar paste, photo and an electroepilation to epilation procedures. Depilation - shaving and the use of special creams and mousses.
Sugar hair removal or shugaring is getting rid of excess hair with the help of caramel paste. This is one of the oldest ways to achieve smooth skin, which came to us from ancient Egypt. In our country, he gained popularity not so long ago, but has already found his loyal fans.
The fact is that its effectiveness is very high, the cost is quite acceptable, and the side effects are much less than that of a similar waxing procedure. Sugar not only copes with hair removal, it also nourishes the skin, prevents ingrowing and breaking off hairs. The shugaring procedure is carried out both in beauty salons and at home.
At the moment, the most popular are the manual and bandage techniques of its execution.
Difference from manual technology
Manual shugaring technique is called hair removal on the body with the help of sugar paste and hands; banding involves the use of strips, as with waxing. This is their main difference. The consistency of the material is also slightly different: manual technology involves more solid varieties of paste, bandage - more liquid.
And one more thing: the length of hairs for carrying out a manual procedure should not exceed 5 mm, when using a bandage of hair, a longer one is needed - about 7 mm.
What is needed?
If you decide to make shugaring at home by yourself, you need to purchase all the necessary accessories. Firstly, it is, of course, the paste itself. To perform the bandage sugaring procedure, choose a liquid mixture. On some of these products is a special note that the paste is designed specifically for the use of bandages.
Secondly, buy disposable wooden spatulas. With their help, you will apply and distribute the composition of the selected area for hair removal.
Well and, thirdly, bandage strips. These are special polymer strips, which are glued to the area covered with paste and torn off, removing excess hair. Purchase enough of them, as the flow will be quite high, especially for the first time. Below are also some life hacking, which you can use to replace the purchased strips.

Pasta recipes
However, the preparation of the mixture for the procedure of sugar hair removal is quite possible to learn and try to make it at home, especially since all the components necessary for this are quite cheap and available for purchase at any grocery store. Let's get started.
Lemon
Take 10 tbsp. sugar, half a lemon and 1 tbsp. water. Separately prepare and set aside aside a cup with cold water, it will be needed later. So, squeeze the juice from the lemon and mix with the rest of the products. This should be done either in a metal bowl or in a small saucepan. Mix well, cover and place on low heat. Watch what happens. Sugar should melt, but before the bubbles. If the mixture boils, but the individual particles are still visible, remove it from the heat and allow to cool slightly. After a few minutes (10-15 is enough), put the paste back on the fire, this time without covering it. The mixture should be the color of caramel. When it boils, wait 2-3 minutes and scoop a small amount with a spoon. Drip prepared cold water. If the mass has thickened, but it remains plastic and pliable, like a chewing gum, it is ready. You can pour the mixture into a suitable container, cool it and start using it.
With citric acid
If desired, the lemon can be replaced by its derivative - citric acid. To do this, you will need 2 tbsp. l water, 6 tbsp. l sugar and ½ tbsp. acid. Strictly respect the proportions, otherwise the paste may turn out too liquid.
So, mix all the ingredients in an enamel saucepan, mix, put on the fire. After 1 minute, turn off the stove for 10 minutes, occasionally stirring the mixture to obtain a uniform consistency. Then turn on the burner again and continue cooking for 4 minutes. The degree of readiness of the paste is determined in the same way as in the previous case.
Microwave Cooking
Yes, this modern and much-loved household appliance is able to help you a great deal in making caramel for shugaring. You will need a quarter cup of honey, a glass of sugar and a quarter cup of lemon juice. First, mix the juice and honey, then add granulated sugar. Mix well, put in the microwave for 15 seconds, setting the maximum temperature. Pull out, stir until bubbles disappear. Again, send in the microwave at the same time. And do this until the mixture has the desired look and consistency. Check the paste for readiness as described above.
Acetic
To prepare the mixture for this recipe, take 6 tbsp. sugar, 1 tbsp. 6% table or apple vinegar and 2 tbsp. water. Mix all ingredients in an enamel pot, put on a stove on low heat, wait for boiling. Raise the temperature control by 1 division and boil the caramel until tender, stirring occasionally and checking whether it has reached the desired thickness, dripping the mixture into cold water.
Shugaring paste is not enough just to cook, it still needs to be properly stored. For this fit plastic containers, jars, molds made of silicone. The lid of the selected container should close tightly to prevent moisture ingress.
The finished mass can be put in the fridge or on the shelf for cosmetics. If it hardens, heat it in the microwave, but do not bring it to a boil, otherwise the paste will spoil.
What can replace strips?
For the bandage sugaring procedure, special strips are used - bandages. They are sold in any cosmetic store, have a different size for processing different areas on the face and body.
There are the following types of bandages: paper, intended for single use; from fabric - washing and reapplication is allowed, and from polymeric materials - the highest quality, but also much more expensive than the two previous types. They can be purchased with the paste and use during the procedure. However, if you want to minimize your expenses for homemade shugaring, it makes sense to think about replacing the purchased bandages with strips made of scrap materials.
Plain paper for the printer may be suitable for this purpose. You only need to cut it into strips of suitable size and can proceed to the procedure. However, paper bandages have a significant disadvantage: fragility. No matter how dense the paper may be, it can burst at the most inopportune moment. In no case do not use a newspaper or notebook sheet - printing ink has been applied to them and this may have a bad effect on the skin.
Another available option that can be used instead of professional materials is fabric strips cut from old bed linen or towels.
It is important that the fabric contains 100% cotton, synthetics are excluded. After shugaring these stripes can be washed and reused.
